Top Dubai RTA Fines You Should Know

Toll Gates (Salik)

salik fines

Dubai - Salik Toll Gates: Every time you go through one, they charge you:

  • AED 4 normally
  • If using eZhire: AED 5 + VAT

If you have insufficient credit or fail to recharge your account within 5 working days, you will incur a penalty of AED 50 per crossing gate.

In addition, if the car is not registered with Salik, the violation fine is AED 100, increasing up to AED 400 if repeated.

Speeding Fines

Speeding Fines

In Dubai, you can go 20 km/h over the limit without a fine. But if you exceed that, you will be fined.

  • Minor over-speeding: AED 300 – AED 2,000
  • Big over-speeding (above 60 km/h): AED 3,000 fine, 23 black points, and possible car impoundment for one month

Don’t miss: Stick to the speed limits, because there are radars all over the place, and breaking the rules can lead to costly Dubai Speeding Fines.

Drinking or Drugs While Driving

It is a criminal offence to drive after drinking or taking drugs. If caught, you could face:

  • A fine of up to AED 20,000
  • 24 black points
  • License suspension
  • Your car was impounded for 60 days

For your safety, just take a taxi or ride app if you have consumed anything.

Blocking Others or Pedestrian Walkways

  • Blocking another car: AED 200 fine
  • Blocking a walkway: AED 400 fine

We must always look around before parking.

Wrong Parking

  • Stopping in another’s space or no-stopping areas: AED 1,000 and 6 black points
  • Bad parking (e.g., not parking inside lines): AED 500
  • Parking on the pavement: AED 400

Be sure to park properly and follow the signs, because parking in Dubai is strictly monitored and not following the rules can quickly lead to a ticket.

Not Carrying Driving Papers

Always carry these:

  • Driving license
  • Car registration
  • Insurance papers

If you are caught without them, you will be fined AED 500, receive 4 black points, and may have your car impounded for up to a month.
