Dubai Salik Exemption for People of Determination: Full Guide 2025

Dubai’s Salik toll system helps traffic move smoothly across the city. Every time a car goes through a Salik gate, four dirhams are automatically charged. But some people don’t have to pay.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) gives toll exemptions to people of determination (people with disabilities) to make driving easier. This guide shows who can get it, how to apply, and what documents are needed.

Who Is Exempt from Salik?

The Salik toll exemption applies to people of determination who fall under four disability categories:

Category

Description

Intellectual Disability

Developmental or learning disabilities

Physical Disability

Mobility-related physical impairments

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Diagnosed cases of autism

Visual Impairment

Partial or complete loss of vision

These categories cover a wide range of individuals, ensuring that those who truly need support can travel more affordably across Dubai.

Eligibility Conditions

The exemption applies if the person of determination owns the vehicle or is closely related to the vehicle owner.

Acceptable family relationships include parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, and spouses.

You’ll need to submit proof of relationship — for example, a birth certificate (for children or parents) or a marriage certificate (for spouses).

This ensures the exemption is only used for vehicles genuinely connected to the applicant.

Documents Required

To apply for the exemption, gather the following:

  • Emirates ID (of the applicant)
  • Vehicle registration card (Mulkiya)
  • People of Determination Card (issued by the Ministry of Community Development) or Sanad Card (issued by Dubai Community Development Authority)
  • Proof of family relationship (if applicable)

Once your documents are ready, you can submit your application through the Salik website.

How to Apply:

Applying is simple and can be done online in just a few steps:

Why This Exemption Matters

This initiative highlights Dubai’s efforts to create a more inclusive and accessible transportation system.

For families of people of determination, the exemption provides real financial relief — especially for those who frequently drive through multiple Salik gates every day.

With 10 toll gates currently operating across Dubai, these savings can make a meaningful difference over time.
